About Matthijs Stam
Matthijs Stam, 1963 Heemskerk, has been drawing and painting for his entire life.
There are still drawings to be found that he made when he wasn’t even two years old.
From his early childhood he was trained by his father Jos Stam, who was artist and drawing teacher.

Since 1999 Matthijs fully applied himself to art and from that moment on he has his own studio on the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam; better known as Galerie Atelier Stam. At this location art is created and exhibited by him and several colleagues.

Matthijs mainly works in commission and besides portraits and city-views he is specialized in large storytelling paintings in which a lot is told about the commissioners, their family and direct environment.

His work is in collections all over the world.
